JLR Contracts were contacted by the client of the retail outlet, as they were revamping one of their stores and their in-house architect had advised them that polished concrete would fit with the renovation. Aesthetics were an important factor, as it was a commercial property, easy to clean and low maintenance were also very important. Please see below for full details of the project….
The client was based in Castleford a bit unsure as they had never previously been involved with polished concrete. After a few phone calls with JLR Contracts and a site meeting, it was agreed that polished concrete would be the preferred option and that it would fit with their requirements. Aesthetics were an important factor, as the overall look had to reflect that the store was retailing quality fashion brands. The existing floor was dark grey and dull, the whole area needed to be a lot brighter, which would then reflect on the outlet retailing quality fashion brands. The first part of the process was be to clean out and fill the existing expansion joints and also carry out repairs to any cracks and heavy indentations etc. The second part of the process would be to then complete an initial medium grind, this would remove any surface sealer, surface contamination as well as exposing the fine aggregate to give the desired look. Subsequent chemical and polishing stages were then completed to give the client the finish they were looking for, and which would reflect that the store was a quality brand and look. As well as being aesthetically pleasing, the floor would now give many years of service with a basic cleaning regime. Contact us for any help with polished concrete floors.
