The client required several hundred metres of new heavy duty concrete flooring for their existing external plant showroom area. They contacted JLR Contracts and said they wanted a heavily grooved anti-slip profile that would complement the plant sales area and give years of service. More details below….
The groundworks were carried out by a third party, ready for JLR to set up the road forms and place the A393 steel reinforcing mesh to add strength. The C40 concrete, was poured to a depth of 200mm, integral steel fibres had also been added to the concrete at the mixing stage to give extra strength. The fibres were added due to the weight of the plant that would be moving about on the concrete slabs as well as sitting on the concrete flooring for what could be possibly several weeks at a time.
The concrete was poured, consolidated and floated to give an initial smooth finish. As the surface water dissipated, and the surface started to cure the grooved profile was added with the grooving float. The edges of all areas were hand trowelled which makes the edge a much more compact and harder wearing surface, as well as looking aesthetically more pleasing.
The heavy grooved surface as well as being anti-slip for both vehicle and foot traffic in all types of weather conditions, will give years of service. The client was delighted with the result. Contact JLR for any assistance with commercial or industrial concrete flooring you may have.
