The client contacted JLR Contracts and explained they currently had a concrete floor that had a resin finish. The topical coating would wear and so periodically the floor had to be ground and then a resin reapplied. This caused a lot of downtime when the works were taking place. The requirement was for long life, functionality and low maintenance without the need for periodically closing the clients operations down, which caused a loss of production and revenue. A low gloss, diamond polished concrete floor, would be the perfect solution to achieve all of these goals. Please see below for more details.
The whole floor would firstly receive a heavy grind, this would remove all the topical resin coating as well as any
contaminants that were present on the surface of the concrete floor. Subsequent finer metal diamond grinding stages were then undertaken. Chemicals were also applied for both grouting and densifying stages; this creates a more uniform floor as well as a resulting hard-wearing surface. The floor was then diamond polished through subsequent finer diamond grit sizes to give the desired result which was a low gloss sheen. The result was a fully functional floor, which would be long lasting and give many years of service, with only a basic cleaning regime being the requirement.
The polished concrete floor would also negate the floor from having to be periodically ground and the resin re-
