The client was converting a garage workshop into a retail outlet for the existing forecourt service station. As it was a vehicle workshop, the concrete floor had a great deal of surface contaminants, (e.g. oil and heavy grime etc.) which had been ground into the floor over many years. The requirement was for a functional floor that would give long floor life, with a basic cleaning routine. The budget was also an important factor. Please see below for more details.
The client contacted JLR Contracts fro help with their commercial floor. The whole floor firstly received a heavy diamond grind, this removed several mm from the concrete surface and in turn removed all the surface contaminants and also revealed all of the aggregate. Subsequent finer metal diamond grinding stages were then undertaken. Chemicals were then applied for both grouting and densifying stages; this creates a more uniform look to the floor as well as a resulting in a hard-wearing surface.
The floor was then diamond polished through subsequent finer diamond grit sizes to give the desired result which was a low gloss finish. The result was a fully functional polished concrete floor, which would be long lasting and give many years of service, with only a basic cleaning regime being the requirement.
